Strong mind, strong results

It is no new discovery that the secret to success is all in the mind. The right mentality WILL improve all areas of your life and especially your weight loss.

For instance; I began by never giving myself an option. I convinced myself of how I wanted things to be and stuck by it. Generally this is how the process begins, great intentions and copious amounts of optimism, but once past the honeymoon period the motivation decreases and excuses take over. The truth is if you can maintain a routine for at least a fortnight then you have great potential long term.

By treating my work outs with the same respect I do work, and toilet breaks, mean that snoozing the alarm or catching up on Gossip Girl are not even considered as an alternative. If working shifts mean each week differs, use every Sunday to review your schedule and program your exercise in to your weekly routines.

Morning workouts work most effectively for me as aside from the obvious health benefits, waking up an hour and a half earlier is easier than a day of contemplation and sacrificing an evening. More importantly however, my body is rarely aware of existence until at least 8 am so is therefore more forgiving and I have reason to gloat for the duration of the day. There is extreme probability that you will wake up just as tired with an extra hour sleep so nothing is lost and everything is gained - just make an extra effort to get at least six hours shut eye!

Changing your focus is another example of improving your mentality. Why use socialising as a weekend treat when it is a great opportunity to enhance your weight loss plan. A night on the dance floor can burn hundreds of calories and by adding a pair of heels not only makes you look amazing but defines calves quickly too. Don't over indulge on the alcohol and stick to clear sugar free spirits such as vodka to avoid a murderous hangover and to consume fewer calories. You need to last the whole night to make the most of the work out!
